We don’t just want to treat Cystic Fibrosis, we want to end Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Close to 40,000 people in the U.S. have cystic fibrosis, a rare genetic disease. The majority of people with CF are diagnosed by age 2 thanks to newborn screening tests. Yearly, around 1,000 new babies are diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and their families begin the in-depth process of learning and navigating this fragile disease in a world where everything feels like a threat. The war that CF rages inside can be ruthless and a “minor cough” from one healthy person can hospitalize a CFer. These strong warriors need all your help until a cure is discovered.

Cheryl continued, “Children born today with cystic fibrosis have an incredible chance to live a long and healthy life due to donations from those like you. During the 1950’s, a child with CF rarely lived long enough to attend elementary school. Today the median age for survival is 50 years old and rising each year due to medical advancements. There is great hope and I know, as a mother of 2 CFers, that their futures are bright. We, as parents, know that none of this would be possible without the amazing support of our loving families, dear friends and from kind strangers across the globe. I owe each person who donates to this fight more that I could ever repay! Thank you for helping save the lives of thousands of cystic fibrosis warriors!!”

This walk raises money to help find the cure for Cystic Fibrosis – a disease that impacts the most basic, yet critical function to sustaining life – the ability to breath! Those living with CF must maintain a rigorous, daily routine to keep their lungs and other vital organs healthy while they wait for a cure. Until then, fundraising also supports research for medications that improve symptoms of the disease, provides services for CF patients and families (including assistance with navigating complex insurance issues) and physical therapies.
