Three Cheers for Sheers!

If I were to associate a specific window treatment to summertime, I would definitely choose sheers.  You can easily imagine light, airy sheer curtains blowing gently in the breeze, casting a soft ambiance over the room as the sun filters in.  Paradise!

They are so versatile – able to be played up to suit any style.  Traditionally, we see crisp white and off-white sheer panels, offering a clean and simple touch.  Perfect for a cottage or beach house.  But a recent trend we are seeing more of are statement metallics and statement textures in deep earthtones.

You can either get functioning or non-functioning sheer curtains, the latter of which offers a gentle accent.  If you opt for functional sheers, keep in mind that whites and lighter colors reflect the sunlight to increase privacy, and darker colors tend to be more transparent.

Moving on from panels, we also have sheer Roman shades and sheer blinds!  These are more recent than sheer curtains, and offer the privacy of a blind, the elegance of a sheer, and everything in between.
