FABULOUS FELIX’S FEST!
We LOVE our Felix SO much!
This year(and every year, let’s be honest!), we celebrate this magnificent man, Felix Hardy!
A monumental birthday happened this year, *cougheightyyearsyoungcough*. Not only that milestone it is also his 35th year at Gordon’s Window Decor!!!!
Can you believe it?
So we did it up right!
Fine foods, fabulous ice cream from Lake Champlain Chocolates!!
And it wouldn’t be a party without Felix’s infamous Rum cake
(more rum than cake 🍾)
Presents! Speeches! Ice Cream! Food!
Kelly shared, “Over the past 35 years Felix has made the world a more beautiful place. He is a true artist with textiles and it has been an absolute honor to have him creating his masterpieces for our clients. Felix is as much a foundational part of the Gordon’s Window Decor culture as Gordon himself (as Gordon said, ‘Felix has now worked at Gordon’s longer than I did!’). Celebrating Felix was so special specifically because it gave all of us the opportunity to tell Felix just how much we love and respect him.”
Here are some fantastical Felix memories from our team
Our Repair Coordinator, Amy shared: “When (daughter) Maisie passed, Sarah and I were making a last minute banner in her memory for the Heart Association fundraiser. Felix asked what we were doing, grabbed the fabric and took off. 20 minutes later he comes back with the fabric all finished, hang tabs added and a pocket across the top with a rod in it! So grateful for his heart and skills. We never asked him for help because he’s so busy and it was only kinda/sorta work related and very last minute! I also love seeing him take breaks outside and planting things. We have some nice perennials in his small “garden” near his car to look at thanks to him.”
Caroline in our eCommerce dept. shared, “I love the overwhelming smell coffee of the drapery room, and seeing him judge the sky in the mornings.”
That’s another thing we can truly thank Felix for…keeping us ALL caffeinated! ☕
Brian our Vice President, made a very detailed list of everything he loves about Felix!
- Coffee.
- Arriving early after a light dusting of snow, and Felix is outside sweeping the snow off of the parking lot lines.
- Tending to his plants and garden – and the joy this clearly brought him.
- Watching soap operas – in spanish – while I was working on roller shades as he zhushed his fabric magic in his workroom.
- Coffee.
- Learning how to properly tie the tiny little knots that hold the rings on the back of a roman shade.
- He repaired my grandmother’s sewing machine so that I could use it again.
- The window treatments in my own home that he made. Bee you tea full.
- Coffee.
“Felix was my neighbor many years ago and was friends with my parents. When I first came to Gordon’s, 15 years ago, I was excited to see him! Felix brings so much joy and talent to Gordon’s, whether it is his willingness to drop anything to help, or just a friendly “Hola, Como Esta!?” in the hallway. His work is impeccable and I love all of my drapery and pillows he has so lovingly crafted for me. Congrats, Felix, thanks for being part of our team!” shared Michelle
Frank, in our Commercial dept, shared an early memory with me, “Early in my days here at GWD, I came in frustrated b/c the shoulder strap on my new computer bag had come undone and the bag was barely a week old. I carry that bag wherever I go. It has my quotes, quote sheets, color samples, measuring laser, measuring tape, etc. Felix saw my frustration, took my bag and repaired it in a few minutes. I was back in action and the bag is still going strong…..”
Our media maven Jody shared, “I adore how honest Felix is. He’ll tell you if he likes or DOESN’T like something, whether it be a new hairstyle, or dress
that you’re wearing that day. I sure do appreciate him. He’s created MANY beautiful things for my home and BUS! I needed new cushions made for my ’76 VW transporter and Felix knocked it outta the park!
Just look how gorgeous they are! 😍
Felix is a JOY and has difficulty accepting thanks/gifts for just being his awesome self.
GWD wouldn’t be GWD without Felix!!”
Felix is a NATIONAL Treasure!
