We Asked GWDers…
“What is your favorite Spring Cleaning Chore/Tip?”
Are you the kind of person who looks forward to Spring? To Spring Cleaning? It’s a necessary thing especially if you heat with wood! (aimrite?) This winter in particular, lots of wood was burned…which means at LOT of dust accumulated! And let’s not forget the switching of footwear/jackets, and packing away the down parkas, making room for flip flops and sandals! We asked the team at Gordon’s Window Decor their ‘favorite’ Spring chore/tip and here’s what they said:

“My favorite Spring activity is watching my neighbor get his lawn in order whilst side eyeing my unkempt lawn until I am overcome with neighborly guilt that I relent and get AJ a rake.” – Kelly C., President
“Cleaning out the rain gutters and my grill.”

“My trick is trying to keep up with it(cleaning) before it’s ‘sprung on us’ forcefully. I don’t always make it, though.”– Veronica B. Cellular Production Lead

“Time for the Spring clothes, closet, change over! Update to pillows on the couches and chairs, cocktails on Friday night on the porch and walks by the lake in downtown Burlington.” -Barb B. Window Decor Designer
“Cleaning and prepping the “toys”, camper and boat, to get ready for playtime!” -Jocelyn P. eCommerce Customer Service

“The thrill of putting ALL the winter things away, opening the windows for fresh air and getting my summer tires on!”😊-Michelle H. eCommerce Customer Support Lead
“I love swapping out my wreaths for the change of season, I enjoy cleaning out the kiddos clothes to donate, and doing LOTS of yard work! I love being outside tending to my yard and landscaping.🥳- Andrea F. Showroom Coordinator

“My favorite activity is NOT having to Spring clean because I keep it clean & tidy & organized all year long? Of course the other best part of Spring is getting seeds started and the gardens ready for planting, because I don’t spend May mowing. Back to the soil!” – Brian W. Contract, Commercial & Specialty Projects

“For me it’s cleaning the outside of the windows and seeing through clean glass finally and raking the flower beds to see all the new plants growing!” 🪻🌱🌞
– Amy A. Warranty & Repair Coordinator

“Washing the house twice a year. Literally scrubbing it with soap and water. Then pressure washing it.” – Eric A. Production

“Since our home is currently under renovation, there’s not much of the way of ‘Spring Cleaning’ BUT this Spring, we know what’s on our historic property-plant-wise, so it will be nice to zhush, encourage all the pretty flora and fauna throughout the season.” – Jody G. Media Maven/Happiness Hippie

“Love cleaning out my garage, which tends to accumulate things that didn’t make it to the dump, Goodwill, etc. over the winter. Then I have room for more junk! 😉 Also (sadly) the annual routine of fixing the damage to my lawn that the snow plows cause. Plus general yard cleanup of whatever blew in (leaves) or fell down (branches) over the winter.” -David H. VP of Digital Strategy

“Before you vacuum: Mix a few drops of essential oil into some baking soda and put it in a clean shaker jar (salt shaker, shaker cheese container, etc) to make a quick deodorizer mix for your rugs. Rosemary is wonderful for this (bonus: add a couple drops of bergamot and grapefruit to the rosemary if you want to *SMELL* sunshine). Start with just a few drops and adjust as preferred. Cover the top of the container, make sure it is well-mixed, and sprinkle on top of your rugs and carpets. Let sit for at least 20 minutes (hours if possible- the longer, the better) before vacuuming up. This is a key part of making my spring cleaning a semi-religious experience — and it deodorizes your rugs pretty easily 🙂” – Sarah C. Training and Development Coordinator
