“Founded in 1878, Champlain College® is a small, not-for-profit, private college overlooking Lake Champlain and Burlington, Vermont, with additional campuses in Montreal, Canada, and Dublin, Ireland. Our career-driven approach to higher education prepares students for their professional life from their very first semester.
Champlain was named #1 “Most Innovative School” by U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” 2016 ranking of regional colleges in the North and ranked among the Princeton Review’s 380 Best Colleges: 2016 Edition. Champlain was also featured in the Fiske Guide to Colleges for 2016 as one of the ‘best and most interesting schools’ in the United States, Canada and Great Britain.”
One window in particular, located in the Dean's office was quite a challenge.12 foot high arched window. The Dean needed ease of operation of the shade, especially with the glaring afternoon sun that beams off of the neighboring Lake Champlain.
In the other campus buildings with a wide variety of shading needs, we have created design continuity with our made in Vermont EcoSmart Solar shades.
Dean Willoquet- Maricondi's office is an amazing space but with one tricky 12 foot high arched window.
The fabric we chose, is of a 1% openness. Allowing the light to be well diffused on the long Summer afternoons.
Our team of experts, carefully designed this motorized solar shade, with Somfy motors.
A stylish 1-channel remote provides ease of light control with a push of a button. The remote also has the capability to be programmed to one a specific height, with the "MY" button. This provides the Dean a single press and the shade will be either raised or lowered to desired level.
The shade itself, rolls up from the sill, from a well. When the shade is not needed, it retracts into a recessed pocket.
When the shade is completely unfurled, the diffused light adds a soft ambiance to the office space, with glare control being of the utmost importance. The desk location is in such close proximity of the very large window; glare control was paramount in the shade design.
In the adjacent small conference room, some floor level windows also proved to be glare producers. With manual Solar shades now in place, light can easily be controlled.
Also located in the Center for Communication & Creative media building, is a gallery space.
"As the new home of the Division of Communication and Creative Media (CCM), the CCM building houses all CCM faculty and academic spaces, including Game and Graphic Design labs, Sound Studios, a Filmmaking and Broadcast Media Production Stage, an Art Gallery and a Drawing Studio."
Our EcoSmart Solar shades, with Charcoal 5% openness fabric, the space has amazing light control options. Each shade is operated by a stainless steel continuous chain loop, and has a welded hem for that clean, crisp look.
"Champlain College's newly opened $24.5 million Center for Communication and Creative Media provides students and faculty with state-of-the-art facilities for current and emerging fields of study and serves as a campus center for student services."
