How EcoSmart Masks started by Jody:
“In early March, all of our lives changed. Thoughts of gloves, masks, and all kinds of disinfectant to combat something we couldn’t see were on everyone’s minds. We were bombarded with information from every direction….
Ok, so I have numerous pieces of our EcoSmart cellular fabric on my desk. What GWD team member doesn’t? It’s not for the reason one might think. Yeah, I need it for color reference, measuring cells, ya know… the regular day-to day-questions that arise.
But to be honest? They’re my ‘stress ball’, my ‘desk zen garden’, my ‘Slinky’ – that ‘something’ that makes work of idle hands.
Sooo…there I was, thinking of a new creative for Gordon’s upcoming advertising campaign and maybe, maybe not…I was a making a squeezebox motion with the cell fabric, (I *might* have also been singing The Who…) It’s what I do when I’m mulling things over….and it hit me.
I looked at the fabric, brought it up to my face, took a few breaths. OH MY! “We could make masks out of THIS fabric!!” It’s washable. It’s SUPER durable. It would be REUSABLE! EUREKA! I grabbed a couple of rubber bands, measured my face ear-to-ear, took my desk stapler and BOOM! the EcoSmart Mask was born. And of course, I did what any Social Media Maven would do… made a quick, fun, how-to video and sent it to Kelly.
Brian took it from there – sourcing, tweaking my initial design for comfort…”
