The Shady….Part 4 DRAMA!

GWD has its very own award- The Shady!

Unlike the inspiration “The Dundies” “A gift that is worthless and is given in recognition of something meaningless.”

The Shady has ended up being given for actual awesome stuff rather than whitest shoes or whatever, like in the Dundies.

And…The Shady is not immune to drama. So let us catch ya up on what has happened…

To be honest, NEARLY fisticuffs ensued.
Oh yeah. It happened.
Rules were violated.
Illegal Handoff.
Words were said.
Wicked side eyes flashed around the building.
There was even talk about modifying the RULES (not gonna happen)

Ok so here’s the Tea….if you’ve been following the journey of The Shady…you’ve witnessed some AWESOME teamwork from our AMAZING team.

To review: The Shady is awarded to a fellow GWD Team Member that did something awesome, and it’s their opportunity to pass it on – rotating through all Team Members, before any repeats!! (⬅️that last part is important)

Welllll…..it happened. It was awarded to a team member that ALREADY won.
SHOCK and HORROR ensued.

Veronica awarded Jeremy (who had already won the proverbial crown). Even though Jeremy is deserving, he legally cannot win said award twice. The trophy was confiscated by Andrea. (see photos) and Maple guarded it until the next awardee was announced.
Maple was our Switzerland. Neutral turf so, The Shady could regain it’s value and bestowed upon….our AMAZING AWE-INSPIRING AWESOME AMY!!

Maple’s roommate, Andrea shared this during the award ceremony, “I don’t even know where to start as to why Amy is deserving of this award! Just this morning, hearing about at least 4 clients singing her praises from the school maintenance/custodian conference isn’t surprising at all. Customers love her and we clearly know why! On a personal level, Amy goes above and beyond whenever I need help and I so appreciate having her as a coworker. Thank you for covering the desk if I need a walk, or just being available for any and all of the things! Selfishly, I’m beyond thrilled to have her on my side of the building. Maple loves bringing a smile to Amy’s face if she’s needing a little therapy/puppy love. Maple is so proud to be able to hand off the Shady Award to one of the most deserving people in this building. Congrats to Amy!”

whew. What a story of trials, tribulations and ultimately, redemption.
