2026 Design Trend Forecast
"If you don't look good, we don't look good." - Vidal Sassoon
2025 is coming to a close down, so it’s that magical time for us, to look forward to what the NEW year will bring in home décor!
As we start each year off…with the…..Colors of the Year!
Pantone’s choice…“Cloud Dancer”

“Color of the Year 2026, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, is a key structural color whose versatility provides scaffolding for the color spectrum, allowing all colors to shine. In a world where color has become synonymous with personal expression, this is a shade that can adapt, harmonize, and create contrast, bringing a feeling of airy lightness to all product applications and environments, whether making a standalone statement or combined with other hues.” – courtesy of Pantone
You could say that Vermont is ALWAYS on trend…

Benjamin Moore’s choice “Silhouette AF-655”

“Reminiscent of tailored suiting, this elegant color weaves rich espresso hues with refined notes of charcoal. A distinctive color that weaves luxurious burnt umber with delicate notes of charcoal, Silhouette AF-655 lends style and grace to the Color Trends 2026 palette of enchanting pales and handsome midtones.” – courtesy of Ben Moore

Sherwin Williams‘ choice for 2026 “Universal Khaki”

“Neutrals are having a moment, and this warm, versatile shade is stealing the spotlight. It’s effortlessly stylish, easy to love, and ready to elevate any space. Neutrals are shifting to sandy shades, making this beautiful khaki the ideal choice for our HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year.” – courtesy of Sherwin Williams
I dunno about you, but it looks like the color choices for 2026, are collectively trying to calm the world! It may come as no surprise, then, that we’re collectively starting to embrace a more lived-in, time-worn aesthetic. 2026 will see us embracing the natural, the organic and the unapologetically fabulous. So from tassels and trims to rich, aged woods and beyond.
If you’re looking for your Great Gatsby moment, now’s the time. AND I AM IN LOVE! Art Deco is back, baby, with all its glamour, luxury, and bold styling. Ya know, it IS the “NEW Roaring ’20s!” Think glossy lacquer, marble, mirrors, brass, gold, and chrome, and geometric detailing like chevrons and sunbursts EVERYWHERE! SUPER moody jewel tone color palettes are perfect for that Art Deco vibe. (psssst..two of the photos below are from a boutique hotel I stayed in whilst in Vienna, Austria last year!)

The next trend for ’26 is DEF an offshoot of Art Deco’s popularity, as checkerboard floors, were a key component of that style. The new spin? You don’t have to stick with the traditional black-and-white traditional combo.

And yes, checkerboard is a very popular flooring pattern, don’t be afraid to incorporate it in a backsplash or tub surround. “Check” these out!

Built-ins are IN! Another favorite of the 1920s, built-in cabinets are back in full force in 2026! Now are purpose-built for TVs, closed storage, or even bars to make entertaining nooks. From book nooks, cocktail/entertaining purposes or to show off your extensive collections, Built-Ins add so much to a home.
Layers! Layers! LAYERS! Layering is one of the design elements for ’26 that is easy for everyone! Combining sheer shading for diffused light during the day with room-darkening draperies for privacy and comfort at night.
Layering also helps with insulation, which is key for 4 – Season climates, such as Vermont. The right combination of window coverings can keep your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter — all while creating a polished, stylish design.
Create layers with shading, drapery, is easy, with your friends at GWD!
Speaking of LAYERS…drapery is showing up EVERYWHERE…from hallways, to bookcases, room-dividers to sinks, book nooks…anywhere and everywhere you wanna add some drama…one way to do it is…
DRAPERY! The possibilities are simply endless!

There is so MUCH inspo for 2026.
